In a spectacular showcase at Lakmé Fashion Week, Pallavi Mohan’s latest collection, “My Journey….Just the Beginning,” in collaboration with FDCI, not only revealed her brand ‘Not So Serious’ in all its glory but also showcased her incredible 15-year journey in the world of fashion. Grounded in her profound love for nature and her extensive knowledge of textiles, Pallavi’s legacy of exquisite textures shone through this collection. From her early days as a textile designer experimenting with laser-cut techniques, 3D flowers, and intricate layers and sheers, her journey has become the cornerstone of her brand’s identity.
Stunning Debut by Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu, Miss Universe 2021
To kick off the “Not So Serious” show, the lovely Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu, Miss Universe 2021, graced the runway in a resplendent royal purple sequinned gown adorned with feathers. She exuded elegance and drama, with a feathered wrap adding to the allure.
The Enchanting World of 3D Embellishments and Laser Cut Flowers
Pallavi’s deep-rooted passion for flowers and nature finds expression in her remarkable 3D embellishments and surface ornamentation. Her new collection serves as a grand showcase of her traditional techniques, bringing 3D floral hand appliqués to life in a breathtaking palette of pastels and vibrant multi-coloured tones.
A Kaleidoscope of Colors
The collection featured a mesmerizing array of colours, ranging from aqua, earthy moss green, and pretty vanilla peach to soft blush, sage green, striking navy blue, and mustard. These seamlessly transitioned into soothing neutrals like grey, metallic ecru, and shades of denim blue.
Masterful Layering and Textures
The intricate layering of laser-cut textures took centre stage, enhancing the transparency of sheer and mesh fabrics. Luminous fabrics played a tantalizing game with sheer and peek-a-boo textures. Sheer organza, French tulle, high-sheen velvet, silk satin, twill, denim, and faux leather combine to create a visually captivating spectacle. The collection offered an array of formal wear with endless mix-and-match possibilities and unique styling directions.
Attention to Detail
Attention to detail was impeccable in Pallavi’s collection, with subtle elements like mints and hints of Anthracite. Shades of lilac, deep burgundy, and an array of salmon seamlessly transitioned into the timeless elegance of black.
Pallavi Mohan’s Reflective Journey
Pallavi Mohan, the visionary designer, shared her journey, stating, “My path as a designer began with FDCI (Fashion Design Council of India), and thanks to the unwavering support of Lakmé Fashion Week in collaboration with FDCI, it has evolved into a powerful platform that has brought recognition and personal growth. Reflecting on my journey, it has been incredibly rewarding. Over the years, I’ve continually strived to elevate ‘Not So Serious’ as a brand, and I am deeply grateful for the support of those who believed in us, especially in the early days. I embarked on this journey in 2009, not entirely sure of what I was doing, but with the guidance of mentors like Mr Sunil Sethi and the fashion community, I gained the confidence to continue. Today, as I celebrate 15 years of ‘Not So Serious,’ I am immensely proud to be a part of the Lakmé and FDCI family. Together, they have strengthened our journey and made it more promising. My story is a testament to the power of perseverance and the transformative impact of platforms like Lakmé Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI on the Indian fashion industry.”
