On February 22, 2025, the GRAMMY Museum in Los Angeles hosted a special screening of “ALKEBULAN II”, a compelling sequel to GRAMMYยฎ Award-winning artist Matt B‘s African-inspired album. The event featured a panel discussion and a live performance, offering attendees an immersive experience into the project’s rich cultural narrative.
“ALKEBULAN II” was recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, blending traditional African percussion with orchestral elements and spoken word. The film, directed by GRAMMYยฎ Award-winning producer Angela V. Benson and co-directed by Matt B, was filmed across Namibia and South Africa. It showcases emerging African talents in music, fashion, and storytelling, reflecting the resilience and triumphs of ancestral narratives.
The post-screening panel, moderated by Schyler OโNeal, Senior Manager of Education & Community Engagement at the GRAMMY Museum, delved into the creative process behind “ALKEBULAN II” and its significance in contemporary music and culture.
