The 37th Annual USC Libraries Scripter Awards took place on February 22, 2025, at the University of Southern California’s Town and Gown ballroom, honoring outstanding film and television adaptations alongside their original authors. The event celebrated the collaborative artistry of transforming literature into compelling screen narratives.
In the film category, novelist Robert Harris and screenwriter Peter Straughan were recognized for “Conclave”. The film, adapted from Harris’s novel, delves into the intricate politics of a papal election. Straughan, in his acceptance speech, reflected on the adaptation process, describing it as serving “two masters” and praised Harris for his generosity and openness throughout their collaboration.

The series, based on Keefe’s nonfiction work, explores the complexities of the Troubles in Northern Ireland. Zetumer, an alumnus of USC, expressed gratitude, noting that projects like these reminded him of his passion for writing during his time at the university.
