New York City Hosts an Exclusive Screening of Nisha Pahuja’s Acclaimed Documentary, Featuring a Panel Discussion with Human Rights Advocates.

On March 12, 2025, New York City’s historic Paris Theater hosted a special screening of the Oscar®-nominated documentary, “To Kill a Tiger.” This compelling film, directed by Nisha Pahuja, chronicles the courageous journey of Ranjit, a farmer from Jharkhand, India, who seeks justice for his 13-year-old daughter following a traumatic assault. The documentary sheds light on their resilience and the broader fight against gender-based violence.​

The event was co-organized by UN Women as part of the Feminist Stories of Justice series, aligning with the 69th Commission on the Status of Women. The evening commenced with a 5 PM reception, followed by the screening at 6 PM. A panel discussion moderated by Gary Barker, President and CEO of Equimundo, ensued, featuring Ranjit and Kiran, the father-daughter duo central to the film, Ziauddin Yousafzai, co-founder of the Malala Fund, Mona Sinha, Global Executive Director of Equality Now. and Nisha Pahuja, the film’s director.​
